EQAsia Resources

In these pages, you will find educational and training resources that have been produced over the course of the EQAsia project. These include video tutorials for laboratory techniques, a Coursera course, and a collection of recorded webinars with accompanying training exercises. These resources cover a wide range of topics related to AMR surveillance, Whole Genome Sequencing (WGS), data analysis, laboratory skills and accreditations, quality management systems, and more.

Developing and providing training materials and technical support was central to the EQAsia programme and mission. EQAsia invested in capacity strengthening for laboratory personnel and laboratory systems across One Health sectors in order to strengthen critical AMR surveillance and response infrastructure, and to improve the quality of data that guides critical efforts to combat AMR.

Please note that the field of AMR surveillance and WGS is changing rapidly, and EQAsia will not update these educational materials after March 2026. Please ensure that you are accessing up-to-date materials.

Video Tutorials

See below video tutorials covering a variety of laboratory processes that are critical for AMR diagnostics and surveillance. These videos were produced by the EQAsia team, and we hope that they can be a tool to strengthen practical laboratory skills, build confidence, and increase success in laboratory diagnostics procedures.

Coursera Course: Antimicrobial resistance – Theory and Methods

Explore the Coursera course titled “Antimicrobial resistance – Theory and Methods.” Launched in 2017 and updated since, this course is an invaluable resource for those delving into the basics of AMR.

This course covers essential topics related to AMR, providing fundamental definitions and an overview of antimicrobials, their use, and the emergence and spread of resistance. Gain insights into the concepts and significance of resistance spread, discover how bacteria become resistant, and explore the mechanisms involved. The course includes training in the methods for antimicrobial susceptibility testing (AST) and detecting specific resistance in microbiology laboratories, emphasizing the generation of high-quality results for various purposes.

Webinars

Here you will find webinars and slides that were produced by members of the EQAsia consortium and by SeqAsia, which was launched in Phase II of the EQAsia grant to strengthen WGS capacity in Thailand and the broader region. Some of the webinars have accompanying training exercises, which you will find linked, as well.
