The National Food Institute, Technical University of Denmark invites to Ana Sofia Ribeiro Duarte’s PhD defense on new methods to assess the numbers of bacteria in food on the basis of the numbers of bacteria found in the laboratory. The defense takes place 26 August 2013 at 13.00.

Food can contain bacteria such as Salmonella, Listeria or Campylobacter, which can cause disease in humans. Methods to improve the processing of data, so the amounts of bacteria in food can be described as accurately as possible, are therefore important to improve food safety.

In her PhD, Ana Sofia Ribeiro Duarte from the National Food Institute, Technical University of Denmark has developed new methods to assess the actual numbers of bacteria in the food, based on the numbers of bacteria detected in the laboratory.

See the invitation (pdf) for Ana Sofia Ribeiro Duarte’s PhD defense of the thesis: “The interpretation of quantitative microbial data: meeting the demands of quantitative microbiological risk assessment” (summary only in Danish).
