Learn how to develop a business plan for an innovative food product or a new technology when DTU once again runs a course on entrepreneurship in food. In the 2020 autumn semester, the course will run as both a summer course and evening classes.
The DTU course ”Entrepreneurship in Food and Bio Engineering” gives students an insight into how you develop a business plan for an innovative food product or a new technology. The lecturers introduce the students to a number of business cases from the food industry, and the students will learn how to establish a plan for growth within a company.
Learning from the experts
Many of the lectures will be given by representatives from a number of different food companies—ranging from multinational corporations to start-ups and investment companies—who will share stories from ‘the real world’.
As such, the participants will get the opportunity to meet people who, by virtue of their own experience of starting a business, can inspire and inform them about the process of starting one’s own business. The lecturers may well also be people from businesses or organizations that the students might get to work for in the future.

Offered as summer course and evening classes
Students have two opportunities to complete the course this year: Either as a summer course starting on 10 August 2020 or as evening classes starting on 1 September 2020. The summer course will possibly move online due to the corona situation.
The National Food Institute has run the summer course for many years with great success. By offering the course outside normal working hours, the National Food Institute hopes to make it attractive also for those already employed by a company but wanting to gain a better understanding of bringing a new product to the market.
The offer of evening classes will also make it easier for students from other universities to attend the course, regardless of when their other lectures are scheduled during the semester.
