Better animal health and welfare in Europe

Animal health and welfare are the focus of a new EU partnership, which the DTU National Food Institute is a part of. The European Partnership on Animal Health and Welfare (EUPAHW) aims to enhance research and cross-sector collaboration to foster healthier animal populations with improved welfare.

The DTU National Food Institute is involved in a new major EU partnership, the European Partnership on Animal Health and Welfare (EUPAHW). The partnership aims to strengthen research and cooperation across sectors to promote animal health and welfare, and control infectious animal diseases.

The DTU National Food Institute is leading a sub-project on antimicrobial resistance in pathogenic bacteria and parasites from animals and aquatic organisms used for food.

The institute's special focus is to evaluate new ways and genetic methods for monitoring antimicrobial resistance in the environment, as well as in sick and healthy animals and aquatic organisms. The results will be used in Danish surveillance of antibiotic resistance and antibiotic use, conducted under the DANMAP project.
