Madens Folkemøde 2026
When Madens Folkemøde takes place from 21–23 May 2026 in Nykøbing Falster, you can meet the DTU National Food Institute at the festival grounds
Would you eat your packaging? Or listen to a mushroom before tasting it?
It may sound a bit far-fetched. But these are just some of the things we work with at the DTU National Food Institute - and something you can experience for yourself at Madens Folkemøde in Nykøbing Falster on 21–23 May.
Over three days, we open up our research and invite you to get up close. You can observe mycelium under a microscope and taste new protein sources. You can encounter algae in a bioreactor, try blue spirulina popcorn, and consider seaweed and other foods that many of us may need to get used to in the future.
We also address concrete challenges. How do we reduce food waste? How do we ensure safe and sustainable food production for a growing population? Can parts of the plastic problem be solved by making packaging edible? And what do you think when you hold these new solutions in your hands?
Along the way, you can meet researchers and students from the DTU Food Institute and gain insight into how we work with food and health - and how we educate young people to help solve global challenges. Through our educational activities, you can explore possible pathways into the field and get a sense of what it takes.
The activities take place mainly at our stand at Kirkepladsen and during debates on the circular stage (Friday at 4:00 PM). Some activities are short talks, others are tastings and hands-on experiences.
Stop by and get a sense of how the foods of the future are created - and who is developing them.
The programme will be published later.
