National databases and tools on food, diet and health

National food and dietary survey databases represent a significant research asset and a cornerstone of the Institute’s science-based advisory services. The databases maintained by DTU National Food Institute consist of several unique datasets based on longitudinal monitoring with great methodologically consistency.

The central databases focus on:

  • DANSDA – Danish consumer dietary intake (dansda.food.dtu.dk)
  • FRIDA –nutrient composition of foods (frida.fooddata.dk)
  • Data on chemical contaminants in foods
  • QSAR predictions of health and environmental effects for chemical substances (qsar.food.dtu.dk)
  • Assessments of plants and fungi (or parts thereof) used in food supplements and herbal teas
  • National and international surveys of zoonotic bacteria and viruses, and antimicrobial resistance (AMR)
  • Informatic External Quality Assessment (EQA) data-reporting system for chemicals, bacterial diagnostics and AMR. Predictive microbiology platform that simulates growth of foodborne pathogens under specified conditions

Many datasets, tools and documentation are publicly available.
