The challenges of getting young people to participate in dietary studies and the problems related to recording what young people eat will be discussed at a Nordic workshop in December 2014. The National Food Institute, Technical University of Denmark is co-organiser of the workshop, which will be held in Gothenburg. Professionals working in the field can register for the workshop before 30 October.
Dietary surveys give access to data about the foods people eat, which can be used fx to develop targeted information about health and nutrition or to assess whether people are exposed to health risks through their diet. However, getting young people to participate in such studies can be a challenge.
At a workshop on 4-5 December researcher from Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden will focus on ways of recruiting young people for dietary surveys, and how to make it easier for young people to participate by tailoring the survey methods to their needs – fx by using relevant technology such as smartphones. Professionals working in the field can register for the workshop before 30 October.
