National Food Institute's research activities are focused in 14 research groups.

In addition, the institute has two staff functions: The Institute Secretariat works with internal and external communication and is responsible for the institute's administrative procedures and guidelines, while Research Promotion supports the academic work pertaining to research, innovation and consultancy.
