Danmap reports

DANMAP (The Danish Integrated Antimicrobial Resistance Monitoring and Research Programme) is a programme, that accounts for the use of antimicrobial agents and the occurrence of antimicrobial resistance in animals, food and humans in Denmark.

The organisations behind DANMAP are the National Food Institute, the National Veterinary Institute (both institutes are under the Technical University of Denmark) and Statens Serum Institut. DANMAP regularly collects data from the entire chain from farm to fork to sickbed.

The DANMAP programme was established in 1995 and is funded jointly by the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Higher Education and the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Fisheries.

The objectives of DANMAP are:
  • to monitor the consumption of antimicrobial agents in food animals and humans
  • to monitor the occurrence of antimicrobial resistance in bacteria isolated from food animals, food of animal origin(e.g. meat) and humans
  • to study associations between antimicrobial consumption and antimicrobial resistance
  • to identify routes of transmission and areas for further research studies.

Each year the National Food Institute and Statens Serum Institut publish the DANMAP report.

ERRATUM: In the printed version of DANMAP 2011, the number of MRSA CC398 cases with no known contact to either pigs or people with contact to pigs was incorrect. The correct number is 24, and corrections have been made in the summary (pages 15 and 21) and in Textbox 13 (page 118). In the printed version of Danmap 2011 errors were found in Figure 8.4 concerning Pseudomonas aeruginosa (page 109) and in Figure 1 concerning MRSA (page 117). Corrected figures can be found in: Erratum DANMAP 2011

DANMAP 2010 (pdf)

DANMAP 2009 (pdf)
