The European network for zoonoses research, MedVetNet, is organizing an international conference on challenges for combating zoonotic diseases. The conference is held on 24-25 June 2013 at the Technical University of Denmark, Lyngby, and is hosted by the National Food Institute, Technical University of Denmark. Deadline for submitting abstracts is 15 March.

On 24-25 June 2013 the European network for zoonoses research, MedVetNet, will hold its annual international scientific conference on challenges for combating zoonotic diseases. The seminar will focus on the One Health approach.

 

One Health focus

One Health focuses on disease risks and challenges related to the interplay between animals, food, humans and environment as well as on the instruments needed at a regional, national and global level to effectively combat diseases which are transmitted from animals and food to humans.

 

The title of the conference is “One health, one medicine: sharing challenges for combating zoonoses” and takes place at the Technical University of Denmark, Lyngby, with National Food Institute as host. At the conference the following topics will be covered:

  • Detection and control
  • Epidemiology
  • Host-pathogen interactions
  • Risk assessment & analysis

All participants will have the opportunity to meet "one-to-one" with any of the presenters, to discuss data & methods, to brainstorm ideas and to foster collaboration on zoonoses.

 

Network for zoonoses research

MedVetNet was originally founded as a European network of excellence for zoonoses research. The network aimed to develop a network of scientists in Europe who focused on food safety with the purpose of improving prevention and control of zoonoses. It comprises 15 partners across Europe and over 300 scientists.
