PhD defence on the development of bacterial resistance

Food safety Bacteria and microorganisms

The National Food Institute, Technical University of Denmark invites to Maria Seier-Petersen’s PhD defence on natural bacteria’s sensitivity to biocides and if the usage of biocides mihgt affect the development of antimicrobial resistance. The defence takes place 30 August 2013 at 10.00.

Biocides are chemical compounds that are used for combating, amongst other, bacteria in the health sector, food production and agriculture.

Maria Seier-Petersen from the National Food Institute has in her PhD project studied the bacteria staphylococcus’ sensitivity to certain biocides which are used in their environment. She has also looked into whether or not the usage of biocides may lead to an increase in antimicrobial resistance in bacteria.

See the invitation to Maria Seier-Petersen’s PhD defence of the thesis: Development of bacterial resistance to biocides and antimicrobial agents as a consequence of biocide usage.
