Join us for a theme day on novel food

Food, fish and agriculture
Clarification of novel food status and possibly an EU approval is necessary in the development of new and innovative foods. A theme day on novel food on 24 March 2022 offers you an opportunity for better insight into the rules. Participation at the theme day is free of charge, and the event will be held at DTU in Lyngby from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The food industry focuses on the development of new and innovative foods, including new alternative proteins or new foods made from residual products as part of the green transition.

Such products require clarification of their novel food status and often also an EU novel food approval. The purpose of the EU novel food approval scheme is to ensure that new foods are safe for consumers. Novel food considerations should be incorporated at an early stage in an innovation process to make the path from idea to commercialization as smooth as possible.

A theme day on novel food on 24 March 2022 offers you an opportunity for better insight into the novel food rules. The theme day is relevant for companies, start-ups, and consultants.

The theme day provides knowledge on how to clarify whether a food qualifies for novel food status, what the novel food application process is like, and how to write a good application.

No fee is charged for participation in the theme day, which is organized and supported by the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration, the Danish Board of Business Development, Food & Bio Cluster Denmark, DTU Skylab, and DTU National Food Institute.
