Special topic portal on sustainable development of foods

Food, fish and agriculture Food production Food technology

A new special topic portal showcases the many ways in which the National Food Institute works to create sustainable technological solutions in the area of food.

Studies suggest that food consumption accounts for approximately 25% of the total climate impact per person. Reducing the climate and environmental impact of our diet requires new and gentler production methods that emit less CO2. In addition, consumers must change the composition of their diet.

The National Food Institute wants to make a difference by creating sustainable technological solutions. The industry must be able to utilize raw materials better in ways that are based on science, in order to avoid production waste and in order to utilize the production processes more efficiently. It also needs to be easier for consumers to choose high-quality sustainable food.
