Food, fish and agriculture Food safety

The programme is now ready for the conference on risk assessments and their significance the 23 September 2022. The conference is organized by the DTU National Food Institute with support from the Danish Agency for Higher Education and Science, Food & Bio Cluster Denmark and the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), which celebrates its 20th anniversary this year. Presentations will primarily be in Danish.

Our foods contain vital nutrients. Some foods, however, can also contain harmful substances. Food risk assessment is thus an important activity – also to understand in order to produce safe foods ensuring that consumers can buy and eat products that do not make them ill.

Fortunately, Denmark is known for its high levels of food safety. This is thanks to bodies such as the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) and DTU National Food Institute preparing risk assessments on an ongoing basis.

Risk assessments provide both European and Danish policymakers and authorities with the basis for decision-making when managing any risks present in a food product. It also provides a framework and knowledge that food businesses can use to produce foods that do not risk making their consumers ill.

An understanding of this work taking place in the EU and Denmark is therefore relevant to professionals working in food businesses and industry organizations as well as to the public authorities that manage risks. This kind of understanding can be obtained from DTU National Food Institute’s conference on risk assessments and their significance on 23 September 2022.

Participation is free of charge thanks to the support of the Danish Agency for Higher Education and Science, Food & Bio Cluster Denmark and EFSA. The conference also marks the 20th anniversary of the EFSA.
