National Food Institute's research activities are focused in 12 research groups, of which ten are included in the three academic divisions.

The research-based consultancy is anchored in the Division of Risk Asssessment and Nutrition, which coordinates the consultancy services across the institute.

In addition, the institute has two staff functions: The Institute Secretariat works with internal and external communication and is responsible for the institute's administrative procedures and guidelines, while Research Promotion supports the academic work pertaining to research, innovation and consultancy.
