The Danish food safety system bases itself on independent scientific work, which is now provided by Technical University of Denmark, explains Director of Institute Jørgen Schlundt, the National Food Institute, Technical University of Denmark in the journal Pan EuropeanNetworks: Science & Technology.

There is an internationally recognised need for developing intelligent food production, improving food safety and providing healthy food to the general population. In essence, we should lower the disease burden related to food, both relative to removing negative components (be they microorganisms or chemicals) and promoting healthy components (be they chemical or microbiological).
