The group Toxicological Risk Assessment and GMO gives scientific advice to the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration and to the Danish EnvironmentalProtection Agency (EPA) in matters relating the effects of chemicals on human health and on GMOs.
Consultancy of the Fanish Veterinary and Food Administration
The group advices the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration within following subjects:

Substances added to food such as food additives (all E-numbers e.g. colouring substances and preservatives)

Flavouring substances and nutrient substances( as vitamins and minerals)
-
Substances which may enter the food during production such as pesticides and disinfection substances as well as substances migrating to food from food contact materials.

Contaminants appearing in food after processing (e.g. acrylamida and heterocyclic aromatic amines)
-
Contaminants from the environment such as mycotoxins, dioxins, PCBs and toxic metals.
Consultancy Danish Environmental and Protection Agency
The advice to the Danish EPA covers chemicals present in the air, water and earth (as contaminants and pesticides) and chemicals present in cosmetics and toys.
International
Group members participate in European working groups on food additives and GMOs as well as on Consumer Safety.
The group also participates in tasks for EFSA. At present on food additives and flavouring substances
