Pesticides and Veterinary drugs are used in the production of food to control disease and parasites, weeds, molds and insects and to regulate growth. Drugs and pesticides must be approved and used according to regulations to avoid unacceptable risks for the consumer.
The Residues research group develops and validates sensitive and specific analytical methods for residues of pesticides, veterinary drugs and hormones in food, feed and other relevant matrices like blood, urine and wastewater.
The analytical methodology is mainly based on high resolution gas or liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry (MS, MS-MS, (Q)TOF).
The methods are used in the monitoring programs of the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration and of EU and in the research programs undertaken by the group.
